    Helen T. Peplowski

    November 14, 1922 - January 16, 2019

Albany-Helen T. “Nanny” Peplowski, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a very short illness. Helen lived a long and healthy life, loving and caring for many. She lived in Albany all of her life. She graduated from St. Joseph’s in Arbor Hill, volunteered as a Grey Lady at Brady Hospital before finally retiring from her long-time position at New York Mutual Underwriters in 2001. She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Antonina Zapasnikus Sabeskis. She was the wife of the late Stanley T. Peplowski; beloved mother of Patricia Micare (late Joseph), Thomas S. Peplowski (Ginny) and late infant son Joseph; cherished grandmother of Kristen Williams (Jim); loving great grandmother of Ashley Williams; sister of the late Jane Dobek, John Sabeskis and Ben Sabeskis. Helen was also a great nanny to Falon Cassala and Gabriella Blanding. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Nanny’s home was the center for most family activities from summertime swimming and barbecues to the traditional Thanksgiving Dinner with her famous noodle stuffing and baked beans. Every Friday night the family would gather for dinner that always ended with playing games, lots of laughter and sometimes wine. Her birds and squirrels will certainly miss her and the breakfast she threw to them every morning. Helen regularly attended Mass at St. Francis Chapel, Wolf Road. A very special thank you to neighbor Cathy Sainato with whom Helen shared a very special friendship. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Helen’s family Monday, January 21, 2019 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Funeral services Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 8:15 am at McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany at 9:00 am where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Mass.
