William J. Conboy, II "Bill"

Albany- William J. Conboy, II (Bill), 66, of Albany, NY, passed away on January 30, 2017, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. Bill was born in Newark, NJ on March 18, 1950. He graduated from Essex Catholic High School in 1967, continued on to Siena College and received a Bachelor’s degree in 1971, followed by a Juris Doctorate degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1975. Bill’s life centered on his family, he was married to the love of his life, Carole Martin Conboy, on June 30, 1973. They were happily married for over 43 years. One of his greatest joys in life was raising his 5 children and spending time with his 6 grandchildren. Since 1973, Bill worked as an attorney in numerous capacities, serving as the Albany County Attorney from 1984-1991, Counsel to the Legislative Majority for the Albany County Legislature from 1992-2011, Attorney for the Town of Berne for over 30 years, attorney for the Hudson River Black River Regulating District, and in private practice handling real estate, estate and election law matters. He was a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Albany County Bar Association. One of his proudest accomplishments, as County Attorney, was his legal contribution to the establishment of the Knickerbocker Arena. During his time with the Legislature, he helped found and generously supported the Adopt-a-Family and Thanksgiving meal programs. Bill was also very proud of his involvement with the Albany County Democratic Party for over 40 years, as well as his role as advocate for the Knights of Columbus. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, trips to the lake, summers visiting family in Manasquan, NJ, golfing, and serving as a coach for various sports teams throughout the years. He was also an active member of the Parish of Mater Christi and a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus Golf League. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Carole Martin Conboy, his children William J. Conboy, III (Lauren Cardinal), Christine Priest (Timothy), Kimberly Poulopoulos (Christopher), Tracey Zusman (Brian), & Stephanie Conboy, as well as his grandchildren—Juliana & John (Conboy), Alexandra & Adrian (Poulopoulos), and Quincy & Silas (Zusman). He was also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Martin, his brother, Brian Conboy, and predeceased by his sister, Sheila Livelli (Paul). He was also survived by many loving nieces & nephews and numerous close friends. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with Bill's family on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Parish of Mater Christi Church, 40 Hopewell Street, Albany. Bill's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Parish of Mater Christi Church.
