Thomas F. Mulhern

Thomas F “Tommy” Mulhern, age 67, died peacefully on January 9, 2016, with his loving family at his side. A lifelong resident of Albany, Tommy was born on May 23, 1948 to the late Thomas F and Frances Timko Mulhern. He attended a day program at New Visions for many years and was fortunate to be supported by an outstanding staff. He took great pride in his work and told family and friends that he was never going to retire. Tommy was close to his family throughout his life. In his later years, he moved to a group home and became part of an extended family. While there, Tommy formed many special friendships and was cared for by a very dedicated and loving staff with whom he shared his love of music and his amusing sense of humor. He endeared himself to all those that were fortunate to have come into his life. Tommy is survived by his loving sisters, Gayle Lenihan, Leslie (Mike) Brady, Karen (Neal) Norton, Nancy (Kenneth) Chrinian and nieces and nephews Kevin Herlihy, Maureen (Chris Ilsley) Herlihy, Michael (Melissa) Brady, Jim (Angie) Brady, Kristin (Karl) Dence, Adrienne Villano, Elaine (Jim) Vandeloo, Jennifer (Alan) Catelli, Neal (Erin) Norton Jr and 10 great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tommy was predeceased by his loving brother and care giver Dale P Mulhern and his dedicated and devoted brother-in-law, Larry Lenihan. The family would like to offer special thanks to the many people that came into Tommy’s life, eased his pain and added to his quality of life, especially the outstanding and compassionate staffs at the Albany Dialysis Center and the Albany Medical Center dialysis and ICU units. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tom’s family Tuesday, January 12, 2016 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Funeral services Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 8:45 am in the McVeigh Funeral Home, thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 9:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
