Thomas A. Conway, Esq.

Delmar - Conway, Thomas A., Esq., died peacefully April 11, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, NY on the fourth of July, 1949, the ninth child of the late William F. Conway, Jr. and the late Elaine Rose (Lawrence) Conway. He graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1967 and from Georgetown University in 1971. In 1975 Tom graduated cum laude from Albany Law School of Union University and was elected to the Justinian Honor Society. Following his graduation from law school Tom entered private practice and began a successful and distinguished career as a trial lawyer. He was a member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Albany County Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. He was proud to have been a founding member of the Albany Ronald McDonald House. A consummate professional, Tom was esteemed and respected by lawyers and judges, including a generation of young legal minds and mentees who admired and emulated him. Tom endeared himself to his clients for whom he was both a compassionate counselor and a zealous advocate. His commitment to his profession was exceeded only by his boundless love for his family. He is survived by his bride of 43 years Kathryn M. (Perkins) Conway, who was his best friend, the love of his life and beauty of his world. Tom's greatest joy was the love of his five children, Amy (Andrew Kirby), Thomas, Jr. (Lindsay), Amanda Bariglio (Todd), Molly Flynn (Peter) and Michael and his cherished grandchildren Katie, Andrew and Molly Kirby, Orla Conway, Caden, Carolina and Cora Bariglio, and Chloe and Owen Flynn. He is adored and admired by his brothers and sisters Gerard (Helen), John, Elaine, Edward, Gayle Doyle (Paul), Lawrence (Grace), Mary Lucy Cook (Charles), Rita Seymour (David), Laurie (Richard Platkin), Christopher (Valentina) and Brian. Tom was predeceased by his brother, Dr. William Conway (Barbara), whom he treasured. “Uncle Tommy” will always be remembered by his many nephews and nieces who all loved him dearly. Funeral services Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. The family would like to thank the physicians and staff of St. Peter’s Hospital for the kindness and care he received during his illness.
