Rose E. Whelan Kellogg

Albany, NY-Rose Whelan Kellogg, 97 passed away March 14, 2023 at the Teresian House in Albany. Rose was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years Paul F. Kellogg Sr. Born on October 17, 1925, Rose was a lifelong Albany resident. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Martin and Catherine Cunningham Whelan, her daughter Mary, son Michael Ray Kellogg, her sister Mary and husband Francis McCloskey and brother-in-law Kenny and wife Jo Kellogg. Rose was a graduate of St. Joseph High School of Albany where she was the Salutatorian of her graduating class. Rose was a homemaker for many years providing her children with all their needs and loving comfort. As the children got older, she first went to work in the NYS Assembly office of Assemblyman Arthur Cooperman from NYC. Later, Rose worked in the NYS Legislative Bill Drafting Commission where she was Director of Payroll. Rose retired in 1992 after 25 years of service. She was one of a kind and a member of the greatest generation. She had a strong faith in God that was the essence of who she was as a person. Rose was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, friend, but most of all mother and Nanny/Grandma Rose. She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and devoted her life to making their lives better which she did many times over. Rose was often seen out in the stores buying groceries and odds and ends for her kids and grandkids. Rose would often go out to lunch and on local shopping trips with her dear friend Joan Cassidy. Rose is survived by her four children, Patricia Brockley (Don) of Venice, FL., Ellen Loe (Fred) of Northport, FL., Paul Kellogg Jr. (Diane) of Albany, Jimmy Kellogg (Mary Kaye) of Albany, her dear grandchildren Michael (Mary), Patrick, and Erin Brockley, Manny Loe, Kimberly (Jason) Wilson, Michael Kellogg, John (Melissa) Kellogg, her great grandchildren Finley, Patrick, Cullen and Brennan Brockley, Callee and JJ Wilson, Liliana, Luca, and Layla Kellogg, also survived by several nieces and nephews. Rose’s family would like to thank the staff from Teresian House and the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence for their kindness and loving attention to her care these past few years. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rose’s family Monday, March 20, 2023 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany, NY. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am. The Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Mass.
