Rosario A. Balarin

Albany, NY-Rosario Aurora Susana Del Portal Balarin was born on December 23, 1943 in Lima, Peru. On Aug 13, 2024, she was called to heaven surrounded by her children and oldest granddaughter in the comfort of her home. In her early life, she was one of the few women to graduate with a law degree from National University of San Marcos (Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, UNMSM). After graduation, she opened her own law firm to serve those who struggled to get justice. She also served as a civil judge in a town in Peru. Later in life she moved to the United States married her former Husband Alfredo F Balarin and started her family in Staten Island, NY, where she raised her four children. While in New York, she worked with and represented NGOs, affiliated to the United Nations; International Federation of Women Lawyers and Juventudes de la ONU (Youths of the United Nations). Rosario was a strong woman and an exceptional mother who was devoted to her children. She had a kind heart and always willing to help anyone in need. Her greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. In them she instilled commitment to family, a respect for education, hard work and a drive for excellence. She is survived by her children Rosario, Alfredo (Jessica), Edward (Anna) and Anthony (Jacqui) Balarin, her 5 grandchildren Alexis Hope Arango, Anthony, Aiden, Alfredo and Amaya Balarin. As well as her sister Martha Glass, brother-in-law Calvin Glass, and nieces and nephews Denise Jamie, David and Diane and her many great nieces and nephews. As well as her best friend Lucy Campos (Hector). She was predeceased by her parents, Esperanza Hinostroza Del Portal and Eduardo Del Portal. The family would like to give a sincere thanks to Dr. Kevin Costello for his remarkably compassionate care of our mother and guidance until the very end. Dr. Costello’s office staff, especially her nurses Tara and Mindy; she had always looked forward to chatting with until her decline. We would also like to Thank The Eddy Visiting Nurse Assoc., especially Jennifer for her compassionate care of our mother. We would also like to thank her Blessed Sacrament family, especially Fr, Dan, Fr. Bradley, Fr. Kyle, Fr. O’Connor, and her friend Carol, who brought her communion every week. She always looked forward to those visits. The family could not have asked for a better team to have besides them and would like to give a sincere Thanks to all those who provided, care, attention, compassion, words of encouragement and prayers in her final months. John Bradley Way) Albany, NY 12206 where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
