Robert M. Hoffman

Albany-Robert M. Hoffman, 73, died Monday, May 2, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a courageous battle against multiple illnesses. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Henry and Anne Weldon Hoffman. Bob was a 1956 graduate of Cathedral Academy and 1958 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College. He owned and operated a successful manufacturers’ representative agency for over twenty five years. He was actively involved in the Oley Foundation, Knights of Columbus Council 173, along with the K of C golf league. He was a communicant of Mater Christi Parish. For those who knew Bob, they recognize he was a tireless, giving, and kind friend and neighbor. Most importantly, Bob treasured time spent with his family. Husband for fifty two years and best friend of Blanche Grasso Hoffman; father of Robert T. Hoffman, Catherine A. Campbell (Jay), Michael A. Hoffman (Patty Matteo) and Mark M. Hoffman; He leaves his grandchildren, Tyler and Dylan Hoffman, Christopher Sherwin, Alyssa Campbell, and Haylee, Brendan, Michael, and Nicholas Hoffman; he also leaves his siblings Marie Ann Hanlon and Joseph F. Hoffman; he was predeceased by his brother John H. Hoffman. He was the brother in law and friend of Richard Burke, Joanne Grasso Burke, Joseph Grasso, Ann C. Hoffman, and Carol Grasso. He is survived by cousins, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to NYOH, Drs. Funeral services Friday, May 6, 2011 at 9:15 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Parish of Mater Christi (formerly St. Catherine of Siena Church) at 10:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, May 5, 2011 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
