Robert John Lysogorski

Albany, NY-Robert J. (Bob) Lysogorski, 89 passed away at home on January 19, 2026. Bob lived a long and fulfilled life. After graduating from Vincentian Institute High School in Albany, he enlisted in the Airforce. While in the AirForce he married his high school sweetheart and they moved to Nebraska where he was stationed and where their twin sons were born. After serving his time in the Airforce, they returned home to the Albany area where their roots were deep and continued to build their family. They eventually settled in Guilderland, NY where they lived until his passing. He was the quintessential sales leader, holding a variety of positions during his long and prosperous career starting as a teenager working at the local flower shop, followed by many different roles and companies over the years. He retired from GE Capital, with fond memories of attending President’s Club trips and hearing Jack Welch speak about leadership. Bob was an aviation enthusiast, pilot, flight instructor, QB member, and Civil Air Patrol Officer. When the kids were young, he owned a Cessna Cardinal and flew the family everywhere. He called it our “magic carpet” that could take us wherever we wanted to go. In retirement, he took on a restoration project of a Messerschmitt 108, a German war plane, taking it from scrap to a fully functional and cosmetically accurate. This labor of love took ten years, with many a weekend bringing together friends and family to lend a hand. Once restored, he travelled around the United States attending and flying it in Air Shows. It is now prominently featured in an air museum in Virginia. In addition to his own flying, Bob loved to travel. He and his wife travelled the world and were happy to bring along their kids and grandkids every chance they could. Some notable trips that we will cherish included: Fishing in Alaska, Running with the Bulls in Pamplona, Pilgrimage to Poland looking for our ancestry, and of course so many trips to Paris (his favorite city on earth). Bob is predeceased by his parents, Paul and Bertha Lysogorski and his brother Paul Lysogorski, Jr. He is survived by Carol Lysogorski, his loving wife of 67 years; his four children Ralph (Sue) Lysogorski, Michael (Karen) Lysogorski, Peter Lysogorski, and Kate (Lysogorski) Rumrill, his two brothers Glenn (Kathy) Lysogorski and Charles (Terry) Lysogorski. He was the proud grandpa to 6 grandchildren: Lee (Deanna) Lysogorski, Nicole Rumrill, Christina Rumrill, Christopher Lysogorski, Madeline Lysogorski, and Derek Lysogorski and 2 great grandchildren: Kian and Conor Lysogorski. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family Monday, January 26, 2026 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206.
