Robert J. Danzy Sr

Albany-Robert J. Danzy Sr., lovingly known as Bob, was born on April 30, 1935, to the late Harvey and Jannie Christine Jackson-Danzy of Bethune, South Carolina. He made his transition into the arms of the Lord on January 9, 2022. Robert attended Carver High School, and in 1959 relocated to Albany, New York. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Cynthia F. Jackson on August 20, 1976, and the Lord blessed this union with four amazing children. Robert had a long-lasting career as a dedicated and talented cook for more than 30 years at the V.A. Hospital from which he retired. Upon his retirement he became employed with the Albany City School District. Robert was baptized at Mill Creek Baptist Church in Bethune, South Carolina and in later years joined Sand Level Baptist Church. He also attended various churches in Albany. Robert was an avid bowler, he also enjoyed playing baseball, watching horse races, and most importantly spending time with his family and making those around him laugh. Robert was preceded in death by two of his sisters, Sophie McCoy and Mary Lee Gantt, three of his brothers, Esaw Danzy, John Henry Danzy, and Bobby Paul Danzy, and 1 granddaughter Angelica Danzy. He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife of 45 years-Cynthia F. Danzy, his sisters Annie McCoy, and Betty King of Bethune, South Carolina, and brothers Harvey Danzy of Albany, New York and Sammie Danzy of Bethune, South Carolina, 4 children: Keith Danzy, Kenneth Danzy (Danielle), Robert Danzy Jr. (Markia), and Katrina Hinds (Seon- “Little Buddy”), 9 grandchildren: Knesiah Memminger, Jahara Christie, Keneeff Danzy, Isaiah Danzy, Kadeen Danzy, Ka’Cona Hinds, Makayla Danzy, K-Lana Hinds, and Mackenzie Danzy, 1 great-grandchild, Zakai Memminger, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Robert’s family Friday, January 14, 2022 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Robert’s Funeral Service will then follow at 12:30 pm. Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance. Masks are required for everyone.
