Patricia Flaherty

Rensselaer-Patricia Flaherty, 71, entered Eternal Life Monday, October 8, 2018 at home along the shore of the Hudson River. Patty was born in Binghamton, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Clarey Ford. Patty was educated through the Catholic School System in Binghamton, NY. She graduated from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA with her degree in journalism. Immediately following graduation, she worked as a reporter for the old Pittsburgh Press. Patty started her career in health care at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Binghamton, in Public Relations. Patty then went on to the American Hospital Association, Chicago, IL and then the Hospital Association of New York (HANYS), also in Public Relations and Publications Departments of these important endeavors. After a short time in Real Estate Patty started her career in New York State in the Offices of General Services appraising properties for New York State, then with Lands Underwater which coincided with her love of the Hudson River. My Patty and I enjoyed many years of trips up and down the Hudson River including our Honeymoon. Four trips to Ireland, and many adventures around our great American Landscapes. She was the beloved and cherished wife of James Flaherty; dear sister of Kathleen Arnold (Richard) and Mimi Hahn (John); sister-in-law of Eileen Flaherty McQueen (late John) and Maureen Kinley (Michael); aunt of Kate Grinney, Patrick Arnold (Deidre), Michael Arnold (Stephanie), Heather Crunden (Jim), Keri McQueen, Lauren Gstalder (Chris), Jim Kinley and Liz Kinley; she is survived by many friends and relations. Funeral services Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 9:45 am from McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to the Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas (formerly the Church of St. Patrick), 273 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206 at 10:30 am where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Funeral Mass.
