Nicholas J. Lauria

Colonie – Nick Lauria, 51, peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 14, 2009, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Albany on June 26, 1958. He is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years Karen (Johnson) Lauria. Nick was the devoted father of Jessica Lafata (John-Paul) and Joseph Lauria; grandfather of Carter and Cash Lafata. Nick was the loving son of the late Joseph Lauria and loving brother of the late Lucia Lauria. He is also survived by his mother Mary (DeVito) Lauria and loving aunts Lucille Campito, Fay Slobodzian and Sister Vickie Lauria as well as his uncle Peter DeVito. He was the son-in-law of Ann Johnson and brother-in-law of Dave and Susan Baker and Stu and Janice Johnson. Nick was the caring uncle of Nicholas Petramale, Jeff (Amy), Josh and Jessica Baker, and Nicole and Matt Johnson. He is also survived by many loving cousins and friends. Nick was a graduate of Columbia High School ’76 and Hudson Valley Community College ’85. He worked for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for 21 years; currently as a Sales Tax Technician IV. Nick’s first love was being a family man, a devoted father and grandfather. He was a loyal friend to many and those who knew him will always remember and cherish his zest for life. He enjoyed family vacations by the ocean, was an avid golfer, and also liked to camp and fish. He was a passionate sports fan who loved to root for his beloved NY Yankees, San Francisco 49ers and Notre Dame Football teams. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Intensive Care Unit staff at Albany Memorial Hospital. Funeral services Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 10:00 am in St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call in the Chapel at St. Pius X Church, Wednesday, November 18, 2009 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
