Mary L. Rizzo Anastasi

Delmar-Mary L. Rizzo Anastasi, 98, entered into Eternal Life after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Loudonville Assisted Living. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Madelina Messina Rizzo. Mary graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany. She formerly worked for NYS DMV and Hooper Homes. She was a past member of Pinehaven Country Club and Wolferts Roost Country Club. Mary lived in Delmar and enjoyed spending her winter months in Naples, Florida. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling. Cooking and most of all spending precious time with her family. She was the beloved wife of the late John B. Anastasi; dear mother of Michele Kolb (Skip), Denise Severino (late Peter), Debbie Simoni (Bob) and John “Tiger” Anastasi (Michelle); step mother of Gary Damiano (Monica); cherished grandmother of Stacy Kolb Kahn (Doug), John Kolb, Heather Lorenz Murray (Kevin), Jason Lorenz (Jenn), RJ Simoni, Tim Simoni, Jesse Simoni, John Anastasi, Alexa Anastasi, Alix Damiano Brite (Chris) and Justin Damiano; beloved great grandmother of Tia, Brandon, Christiana, Taylor, Stone, Sage, Tessla, Zaden, Makenzie and Ellison; sister of the late Dominic Rizzo, Salvatore Rizzo and Dante Rizzo; she is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and former son in law Gary Lorenz. Mary’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to John and Joan Anastasi, Angela D’Alleva and ‘her other son’ Jim ‘Eddie Haskel’ Giacone for all they did to help Mary through the years. Also The Community Hospice, Loudonville Assisted Living and Phyllis Scafidi for their comforting care. Funeral services Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 9:45 am at McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar, NY at 10:30 am where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Mass.
