Mary J. Cocca

Albany – Mary J. Cocca, 100, returned to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Judith and Frank Montana. Mary was a lifetime resident of Albany where she worked for Sterling Winthrop for many years. She also worked in the cafeteria at Albany High School for the better part of her career. Mary cherished every moment she spent with her loving family. She routinely opened her home and her heart to those she loved. She was a gentle matriarch whose kitchen was seemingly always filled with love, family, and the intoxicating aroma of her unparalleled cooking. Mary’s warmth and compassion were equaled only by her selflessness, constantly giving of herself to others. Her influence, passed down through her life lessons, her deeds and her recipes will endure for generations. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Patrick Cocca; her beloved daughter, Ann (William) Dillon; brother, Joseph (Zina) Montana; sister, Josephine Corio. She was the loving mother of Rosemary Sheldon; sister of Frances Corcione; grandmother of Patrick Dillon, Stephanie (Dean) Hendrick, Amy Sheldon & Patrick (Shelby) Sheldon; great-grandmother of Matthew and Christopher Hendrick, Benjamin Zuchelkowski and Graham Sheldon. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Our loving thanks to Drs. Costello and Phang for their extraordinary care and kindness, as well as her care companions.
