Margaret M. Davidson

Margaret “Maggie” McNally Davidson (NEE Ellis), 74, Watervliet, NY, passed into eternal peace, surrounded by her loving family, on April 25, 2016 at Albany Medical Center MICU following a brief illness. She was born May 24, 1941 in Albany, NY to Patrick and Margaret (McGinley) Ellis, the 4th child and only daughter. Maggie graduated from Vincentian Institute, worked briefly as a clerk for NYS until she married the world’s perfect man, John Edward McNally. Upon the young death of her beloved, Maggie resumed work and raised her 4 children alone, initially as a waitress and eventually rising to the position of chief court clerk for Albany Traffic Court. Upon her retirement, Maggie was employed part-time at Walmart, a job she truly loved because of her interactions with co-workers and customers, and it allowed her to display her collection of zany themed hats. Maggie never had a harsh word for anyone and found humor in everything. For 3 decades, she was respected, admired and befriended by much of the Albany Police Department and City officials. She was proud of her Donegal Ireland roots and was fiercely protective and proud of her children, grand-children, nieces and nephews, and her many, many “adopted” kids. She thoroughly enjoyed a good BINGO trip, was a long-time member and volunteer at the Oppenheim VFW #1019 Auxiliary, and was a member of the Albany Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. She is pre-deceased by her husband John E. McNally, her parents, grand-daughter Chloe Eileen, and brothers Dennis (late Arlene) Ellis, Patrick (Sheila) Ellis, and William (late Kay) Ellis. She is survived by her children Margaret (Curtis) Bradshaw of Princetown, NY; Ellen McNally of Watervliet, NY, Michael J. (Michelle) McNally of Albany, NY, and Elizabeth (Robert) Enoch of Albany, NY, as well as many “adopted” children, especially Glen Zimmerman and Denise White. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Kaelyn Cipollo, Matthew Rodriguez, Sean Klingelsmith, Sarah McNally, Briana Rodriguez, Michael V. McNally, John E. “Mic” McNally and Leilah Enoch. Maggie also leaves behind her furry babies, Pocket, Ginger, and Nellie to fill part of the void she leaves behind. Maggie’s bountiful sense of humor and perpetual optimism, even under the most extreme of hardships, and her fierce dedication to her family and friends will be an undying testament and serve as a legacy of a beautiful soul. Maggie’s children are eternally grateful to cousin Sandy Farmer for her guidance through a very difficult time, and to the angels that are the staff at the AMCH MICU. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with Maggie’s family on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 9:00 am. The Rite of Interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands immediately following the Mass.
