Kathleen M. Kelly

GLENMONT, NY-Kathleen Kelly (McGraw) of Glenmont, born September 20,1946, passed away on March 21,2025 at home in the company of her beloved husband of 57 years, Michael Kelly, and her youngest son, Kevin. Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Joseph McGraw of Albany, and two brothers, Joseph (Karen) and Robert (Martha). She is survived by her five children, Michael (Beth), Christopher (Joelle), Martha (Patrick Feehan), Patrick, and Kevin (Heather); four siblings, Thomas (Colleen), Martha (Neil), Kevin (Julia) and Mark (Tammy); nine grandchildren, Maeve, Paul, Joseph, Madelyn, Patrick, Matthew, Miel, Jackson and Hunter; as well as numerous nephews and nieces all of whom adored her and will forever cherish and remember her for the unconditional love and affection she bestowed on each of them. Kathy was the ideal mom and was happiest when surrounded by her family and close friends, whom she had in abundance. She grew up as the big sister in a joyous family of seven children on North Pine Ave. in Albany and graduated from Vincentian Institute (VI), class of 1964 where she established lifelong friendships, no doubt the result of her endearing warmth, infectious laugh and genuine smile that lit up the room. Following graduation from VI and while attending Maria College she met her soon to be husband, Michael Kelly, who was taking graduate courses at SUNY Albany before entering the US Air Force. Following their wedding, Kathy became the proverbial "military spouse" accompanying her husband on tours of duty that entailed 14 different assignments in 14 different locations over 20 years including Turkey, Michigan, Florida, Texas and finally Omaha NE. Not only did she manage all that while raising five children, she also volunteered as an emergency medical technician. Following Michael's discharge from the military in 1988, he joined the private sector and the family moved to New Jersey where Kathy worked as a patient care representative for an internal medicine practice. They remained in New Jersey until Mike retired in 2003 after which they returned to the Capital District where Kathy joyfully reunited with her family and friends. Kathy led an exemplary life bringing joy and happiness to everyone she met. She personified the Christian virtues of charity and love. There will be a private wake for family members at McVeigh Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to which all are invited which will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 29 at Saint Francis of Assisi Church (formerly St. John’s/St. Ann's) located at 93 Fourth Ave. at Franklin St., Albany NY 12202.
