James H. Leonard

Voorheesville-James H. Leonard, J.r., 79, entered Eternal Life Tuesday, February, 13 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospice. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late James Leonard and Catherine Lenda -Leonard. Son in law of the late Joseph Femia and Josephine Stazio Femia James was a graduate of Cathedral Academy and Hudson Valley Community College. James was a Civil Engineer for New York State Department. Afterward, he owned his own trucking company. Also, he was an Operating Engineer for Local 106. Upon retirement he owned his own business. James loved spending time with his family, attending New York Yankee games, traveling, working on many different projects, and living life to the fullest. He was the beloved husband and best friend for fifty years of; Theresa Femia-Leonard; dear father of Kelly M. Leonard; brother of Elizabeth Schreiner (William), Donald Leonard (Janice), Edward Leonard (Pamela), and Gerald Leonard. Brother–in –law of Donald (Linda-Femia-Rahm) and Kim Saville-Femia, and Angelo Femia (deceased). Uncle of Michael Rahm, Patrick Rahm, Brianna Femia, Donald Leonard J.r. (Amy), Maria Leonard, Michael Schreiner (Nancy), Katherine Roy, Matthew Schreiner (Tracy), and William Schreiner (Davina), friend and cousin of Nancy Cordi and grandnephew’s Mason and Braedyn Rahm. Survived by other special family and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Community Hospice staff, nurses, and staff at Good Samaritan, and the Oncology team at St. Peter’s Hospital including, Dr. Wresinski and Dr. Luyun as well as Hospitalist, Dr. Menakuro also at St. Peter’s Hospital for their compassionate care. Funeral services Friday, February 16, 2018 at 4:00 pm in St. Matthew’s Church, Voorheesville where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. All are invited to attend. There will be no public visitation period, and the Rite of Committal will be held privately in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember James H.
