Hazel W. Sackor

Biography of Bazel WIeyer Sackor Grateful to our faithful and awesome God, that we are celebrating an impactful legacy of a mother, grandmother, aunty, sister, cousin, and friend. Hazel was born unto the union of Mr. John Quaye Walker and Mrs. Yelmon Koffa Nyonoh Walker in Jedepo District, Sinoe County in Southeastern Liberia. At an early age Sis. Hazel was given to her elder Sister Lucy Wion and her husband Stanley K. Wion for modem life. She earned her primary and secondary education at Jedepo Jarpuken Mission School, where she completed her high school. Upon completion of her studies in 1968, she matriculated to Monrovia for furtherance of her studies where she met Mr. Henry Chele Sackor who took her hand in marriage at Mission for Today - Holy Tabernacle, where she served in various capacities such as evangelist and chorister. This union was blessed with (5) five children namely: Behju Sackor, Henry Sackor, Jr., Quaye Sackor, Grace Toddeh and Jason Sackor who predeceased her. Joyfully married to her husband Henry Sackor for 29 unbroken years, Hazel lost her loving husband on Feb 14, 1997, after a protracted illness. In passing of Hazel, her families have lost a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunty, sister, and cousin. Four sisters and three brothers who predeceased her include: Laura Lee Nagbe Chele, Lucy Boryonoh Wion, Sarah Walker, Theresa Walker, Andrew Walker, Daniel Walker and Jonah Nagbe, Lastly,in 2001 she later joined her children in Ghana due to the civil war in Liberia;few years later she was privilege to immigrate to the Uni ted States and settle in Amarillo, Texas. She then began her American dream working at Tyson food from 2005-2009 until she relocated to Albany, New York With her oldest daughter Behju Sackor. she then found a job with Albany Medical Center where she was loved by her supervisors and coworkers. Sheju st couldn't stop working, but then a few years later, she realized it was time to retire and spend more time with her grandchildren and children, where between Albany and Austin was her regular routine; and she would tell anyone that she was living her American dream because she was doing what she loves. we hope that her energetic spirit will live on and watch over us, her children and grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her loss four children, two sisters, 12 grandchildren, (1) one great grand, nieces, nephews, adopted children, and many dependents in her family. As you leave us today, let us cry, let us say mom, grandma you were a great hero, our support system, our light, and dear mom, grandma we will miss you and you will forever be in our hearts.
