Franz Nicotina

Born in Rina - Savoca,on January 2, 1952 ,in the Provence of Messina, Sicily. Emigrated in the United States in 1969. He was the son of the late Antonino Nicotina. Franz is survived his mother Angela (Spadaro) Nicotina . Franz is also survived by his dear brothers, Vincenzo (Francesca) Nicotina of Italy, Joseph (Mary Lou) Nicotina of Albany, Giovanni (Rosanne ) Nicotina of Albany, Ottavio Nicotina and Salvatore Nicotina of Albany, and sisters Filippa (William) Bassotti of Ravena, Elvira (Luigi) Cosentino of Albany and Anna Maria Nicotina of Albany. He was the beloved uncle of Maria (Albert) Gessner , Maria ( Mark) Kotary, Orlando Cosentino (Chris), John ( Beth) Nicotina, Christina (Jeremy) Pickreign, Jolana Nicotina, Jolene Nicotina,. Beloved great uncle of Albert Gessner, Angela Gessner, Taylor Cosentino, Isabella Nicotina, Jacob Kotary and Sophia Pickreign. Also Survived by cousins Vincent (Margaret ) Nicotina of Voorheesville and Vincent Nicotina Jr ( Valerie) and Rachel Pasqua (Richard) and other relatives in Italy . He was employed by St. Peters Hospital for over 40 years as Food Service Supervisor in the Nutrition Department. Franz enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, and, cooking. He especially loved working in the garden, landscaping and enjoyed outdoor activities. He attended the Articultural and Technical College at Cobleskill. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Peters Hospital for their exceptionally kind and loving care , especially the staff in the Hospice Unit. A special thanks to the staff in the Nutrition Department for all the food provided to the family and friends during his care. Also a special thanks to Chris Rafferty for her love and care. Funeral services Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 9:45 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street Albany thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 10:30 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday, July 14, 2010, 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
