Erna M. Panthen

Albany-With her three sons and their families by her side and in her heart, Erna M. Panthen died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Hospice Inn at St.Peter’s Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John G. Rothlauf and Erna C. Fischer. Born May 9, 1926, she lived n Albany her entire life. She attended Our Lady of Angels grammar school and graduated from Vincentian Institute High School, class of 1945. She worked for Whitney’s Department Store and Denby’s Department Store in Albany until their closings. She later worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield until her retirement in 1988. A resident of the Beltrone Living Center, she was a member of the Lt Herman Silverstein Auxiliary # 218 American Legion, the Silver Streakers, and the 8/40 Salon #121. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. She is survived by her three sons, Robert G. (Denise) Panthen of Bellingham, WA, Donald C. Panthen Jr, and Kenneth P. (Elvira) Panthen of Albany, two brothers, John Rothlauf of Colonie and Edmund Fischer of Nevada. She was predeceased by her brother Robert G. Rothlauf and sister-in-law, Grace Rothlauf. Several nieces and nephews survive. She was the proud grandmother of Darcie (Thomas) Turgeon of Oswego, NY, Eric and Jonathan Panthen of Albany, Tania (Steve Magee) Panthen of Guilderland, Sabrina (Tomas) Poventud of Cohoes, Craig (Becky) Panthen of Seattle, WA and Mark (Amanda) Panthen of Bellingham, WA. She was the loving great-grandmother of Lillian Mae, Isabella, Connor Daniel, Caden, Oakley, Francesca, Ryder and Grace. Funeral services Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 8:15 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street Albany thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 9:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, May 7, 2010 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
