Barry J. Meehan

Albany, NY-Barry J. Meehan, 78, peacefully entered eternal life on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024. Barry was the son of Barry J. and Marcella F. Meehan and was born on May 31, 1946. He was a graduate of Vincentian Institute and the State University of New York at Albany. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who spent many happy summers on Lake George enjoying his boat (“Old and Busted”) with family, extended family and a host of dear friends. As an avid outdoorsman, he shared his love of nature with his children and “camping buddies.” He delighted in scuba diving with Dan, Kevin, Megan and his grandson, Michael. He took advantage of every opportunity to learn and explore the world with his family. Barry was a lifelong learner who returned to the college classroom after retiring from the New York State Office for Technology. He graciously shared his computer knowledge and mechanical skills with many but was particularly proud of serving as mentor to many young people entering the IT field. Barry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Meg. He is also survived by Ellen Meehan (Kris Cedar), Daniel Meehan (Bonnie Bellville), Crystal Meehan Servant and his treasured grandchildren Michael and Abigail. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Kevin B. Meehan and his precious daughter, Megan E. Meehan. Barry is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Doyle Way), Albany, NY 12208 where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Funeral Mass.
