Albany-William C. Hallenbeck passed away peacefully at home February 27, 2021. He was born April 1, 1933 to Irene and William Hallenbeck in Rome NY. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and joined the Marines becoming a Master Seargent. He then attended The Albany College of Pharmacy where he met his late wife Ann Shiel Cantor. They settled in Albany for work and to raise their family. He started in Retail pharmacy but soon found his true career at Memorial Hospital as Asst. Director for over 25 years. During that time he became a long distance runner competing in many races and medaling in several marathons. He is survived by his sister Betty Williams, his children Bill (Laurie) Hallenbeck, Laurie (Travis) Plowman, Margaret Hallenbeck (Greg Nowell), Carol Hallenbeck (Peter Montalbano); nephews Jeff Williams, Dan Williams, and niece Lisa Williams DeAngelis (Anthony); 5 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with William’s family Wednesday, March 3, 2021 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doorway; masks and social distancing are required; and 45 visitors at a time will be allowed in the funeral home. His Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 pm The Rite of Committal will immediately follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
