Cohoes - William F. Faragon “Bill”, 56, of Cohoes passed away May 1,2021 after a brief illness with his family by his side. Born in Albany, New York on February 13, 1965, Bill was a graduate of South Colonie High School and Siena College, where he majored in accounting and finance. He was currently employed at the Alliance for Positive Health and had recently reached 25 years of dedicated service. He spent many years as the Director of Finance and Operations and for the past 6 years served as the Executive Director. He was proud of the work that he and his colleagues accomplished for persons living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses. He worked with local and state agencies, serving on committees, planning groups and task forces focused on HIV prevention, testing and treatment. He gave back to his community, volunteering for numerous organizations – he was a dedicated board member for the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company and the Susan Odell Taylor School, among others. Bill was predeceased by his mother Barbara Connery-Lima and is survived by his father Patsy Faragon (Mary Lou) and step-father Natale (Ned) Lima, and his siblings Joe Faragon, Debbie Faragon, Teresa Rappold (Chris), Maribeth White (Dan), Frank Faragon (Kathleen) and John Faragon (Colleen). While he loved his parents, step-parents and siblings, he had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews Cory, Nick, and Natalie Faragon, Justin and Jeffrey Rappold, Aidan White, Tori and Lexi Faragon and Sarah, Ava and Grace Faragon. The family would like to thank Cohoes Police/EMS and Samaritan Hospital ER and ICU staff for their compassionate care during this difficult time. A special thanks to Dr. Philip Palmieri and staff for their support for Bill for over 20 years. The family appreciates the thoughts, prayers and messages of support from so many friends and family which are too numerous to mention. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bill’s family on Thursday May 6, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doorway; Masks and Social Distancing are required; and 45 visitors at a time will be allowed in the funeral home. Funeral services Friday May 7, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY where his Memorial Mass will be celebrated. Please only enter the church from the front doorway; Masks and Social Distancing are required; church ambassadors will be available to help with seating and questions; and please attempt to arrive before 10:45 am.
