    Veedia Flame Snell

    July 15, 1947 - March 14, 2022

Albany – Veedia Flame Snell, 74, passed away peacefully March 14, 2022. Flame was a well known and beloved bartender at several establishments in Albany, including the Bunny Lounge, Falcon’s Nest, Dorton’s, Rick’s Tavern and Twilight Lounge. She also served her community as a school bus monitor and safety coordinator for Durham School Services. Flame was an incredibly talented artist and liked to draw cards for every occasion. She also loved to host any event that brought everyone together. Her legendary parties included Halloween Baby Discos when her children were young, Mad Doctor Parties while she in nursing school, Champagne Social fundraisers, ice cream socials with her colleagues, area Bartender happy hours and backyard barbecues. She liked to dress up in lavish costumes to make everyone smile and laugh. She was truly a big kid at heart. She is pre-deceased by her mother Oveater Vinson and her brother Kenneth Vinson. She is survived by her brother Roderick (Carole) Vantry of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, her son Christopher (Marian) Snell of Dumont, NJ and daughter Cindy (Eugene) Drago of Glenville, NY and grandchildren Nehemiah and Gabrielle Snell. Flame’s extended family includes children, cousins, aunts, and uncles that she named for all of us to share as family. There are too many names to be able to list each and every person who touched her life in special ways great and small, but all are considered family. Our family is grateful for the thoughtfulness and kindness of all who treated and cared for Flame. This includes but is not limited to home health aides Sharon Soden and Judith Ackbersingh, Marsha Smith and Dr. Effendi, Dr Zen and the staff of New York Oncology Hematology, the staff of St Peter’s Hospital and Hospice Inn and the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care Albany Regional Dialysis Center. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Veedia’s family on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Her Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm. Individuals are respectfully asked to follow current CDC, NYS, or County COVID-19 recommendations.
