Colonie-Richard Hoefer, 92, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence. Born in Stamford, CT to the late Herman Hoefer and Alice Coleman Hoefer on January 27, 1929. Dick graduated from Albany High School in 1948 and then attended SUNY Cobleskill. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou Naughter and they recently celebrated 70 years of Marriage. Dick joined his father-in-law in the auto mechanic business in 1954 where he, along with his brother-in-law worked together until retirement in 1992. A lover of nature Dick enjoyed watching the sun rise and set over the Great Sacandaga Lake which was his favorite happy place. He enjoyed and looked forward to his many trips to Snowmass, Colorado skiing with his beloved “ski group.” He was a member of the Shaker Road Loudonville Fire Department, being one of the oldest ‘old timers.” Being an only child, his greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou and six children; Richard (Patty) of Guilderland, Barbara Kircher (Bill) of Michigan, Nancy Viggiani of Latham, Lori Hoefer of Stamford, CT, Patricia Luciano (Joseph) of Washington State and Michael (Linda) of California; eight grandchildren, Eric and Kevin Hoefer, Christopher and Katie Viggiani, Peter and Mark Luciano, Lily and Piper Hoefer, 3 step grandchildren Jimmy, Joe and Lori Kircher and eight great grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Loudonville Assisted Living Residence where Dick was treated like family. Funeral services Monday, March 15, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Mass may be viewed online at https://www.stpiusxloudonville.org/parish-website-live-videos/ Please only enter the church from the front doorway; masks and social distancing are required; church ambassadors will be available to help with seating and questions; and please attempt to arrive before 9:45 am. The Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Mass.
