Albany – Osvaldo Riccio 87, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 and was welcomed back into the arms of the love of his life. Born in Siderno Marina, Reggio Calabria, Italy was the loving husband of the late Pupa Riccio; and adoring father of Gabriella Riccio, his only child and light of his life; survived by sister Ada Jeraci (Italy), preceded in death by his late sister Maria Femia (Italy), and his late brothers Giuseppe Riccio, Gino Riccio and Vincenzo Riccio (Italy), and Mario Riccio (Italy); countless nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends in both Italy and Albany. Osvaldo came to the Unites States (Albany) in 1960 and married his first love and soulmate. He was a master barber and hairdresser trained by L’Oreal Milan. Known as “Al” to his clients and colleagues, he became renowned in the Capital District for his artistry starting as a stylist in the original Stuyvesant Plaza Barber Shop, then moving on to owning several salons throughout the years until he retired in 2004. He was a passionate Juventus “Seria A” soccer fan, cook and social media “guru” who loved to post tributes to his beloved wife and country on Facebook along with his culinary creations. Osvaldo participated in many years of social and cultural events to help build and unite a strong Italian community. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Osvaldo’s family Friday, January 28, 2022 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY. Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doorway. Masks are required for everyone. Funeral services Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 9:30 am at the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany, NY where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Masks are required for everyone.
