August 30, 2000 - March 19, 2018
Colonie- Niko David DiNovo,17, became our Angel on Monday, March 19th, 2018 surrounded by his fearless, unwavering family at Westchester Medical Center. Born in Colonie he was the son of Michael J DiNovo Sr and Alicia M DiNovo (Ryder). Brother to Michael J DiNovo Jr, Bella DiNovo and Nino DiNovo. Grandson of James DiNovo Sr and Donna DiNovo and the late Gladys Hartigan, David and Alice Ryder, who were waiting with open arms at the gates of heaven. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. And lastly, the tribe that has formed to pray, love, and support… you are now and forever will be family. Niko was a warrior for his tribe. Fighting to live for exactly 508 days with strength, will and perseverance. He united a community, restored faith, and helped others find their purpose. God had a plan for Niko on the night of October 28th, 2016, a plan that was difficult for those who loved him to understand. It is now clear of God’s plan, Niko was a faithful servant, and has been awarded eternal peace and free from pain in Heaven. Niko mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing sports, camping, listening to music, Saratoga Race Track, playing video games and eating Fruit Loops for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. Taking no for an answer was not an option for Niko. He knew how to get exactly what he wanted. His smile would light up any room, and it was never quiet when Niko was around. He will be missed but now instead of praying FOR Niko, we will pray TO Niko. Thank you to Dr. Turkowski, Dr. Winski, all of the Angel nurses in the burn unit at the WMC, The Ronald McDonald house of the Greater Hudson Valley and Burn Care Everywhere Foundation for also being apart this Tribe for the past 16 months. #NikoForever Relatives, friends, and all those who include themselves in the tribe that formed to pray, love and support Niko and his family are invited to visit with Niko’s family Sunday, March 25, 2018 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Palace Theater Albany, 19 Clinton Ave., Albany, NY 12207.
