Michael Joseph Lyons III

Loudonville-Michael “Mickey” Joseph Lyons III, 77, went to his rest Thursday, December 8, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany he was the son of the late Michael J. Lyons Jr and Theresa Mitchell Lyons. He attended Blessed Sacrament School, and graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and Hudson Valley Community College. He attended Utica College. Mickey was a member of Latham Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golf, skiing, table top bowling, and playing in a dart league. He also enjoyed mentoring for the FIRST Team 250 Robotics Club with his grandsons. Mickey also enjoyed flea markets with his brother Ray and friends. He was a longtime communicant of St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. Mickey was an electrical engineer and retired from New York Telephone Co. after a 33 year career. Mickey will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, known as ‘Mr. Fix it’, and for the love and devotion he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Once you were part of Mickey’s life there wasn’t anything he would not do for you. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Arlene Meier Lyons, whom he married on October 21, 1961. He was the beloved father of Michael Lyons IV (Kathleen), Michele Polito (Paul) and Erin Lyons (David); cherished grandfather of Michael, William, Jack, Adam, Galen and Angelo “DD”; brother of Raymond Lyons, Edward Lyons, Theresa Herrick and the late Helen Noonan and Robert Lyons; many nieces and nephews survive. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mickey’s family Monday, December 12, 2016 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Funeral services Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 8:45 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to St. Pius X Church, Loudonville at 9:30 am where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Interment will be held at a later date.
