Albany - Matthew Day Willis, 63 of Albany, died on November 17, 2021 at Albany Medical Center. He was born on March 25, 1958 in Albany. He graduated from Albany High School in 1976. He is survived by his mother, Janet (Hall) Willis of Albany, his children; Patrick of Vietnam, Daisy of Sellersville, Pa., Camile of Sellersville, Pa., former wife, Andrea Saunders of Mexico and a brother, Timothy Willis (Linda) of Voorheesville, NY. He was predeceased by his father, Philip M. Willis in 1987. Matt was one of the first and long-time employees of the Ocean Atlantic Textile Screen-printing company (OATS) in Ocean City New Jersey where he worked in many capacities with the company for almost 20 years. When he moved back to Albany, he worked for Wicked Smart Apparel in Watervliet. Matt was known for his irreverent humor and intelligence, quick with jokes and insights that no one saw coming. Restless, creative curiosity defined an observant and inquisitive mind. His interests included writing, history and photography, looking beyond what was in front of him to its past lives and evocative essence. He was companionable, very knowledgeable and was easy to engage in conversations about a wide variety of topics. He will be missed by his family, his friends from his high school years and his many friends from his days at OATS in Ocean City. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
