Kathleen Lynch Farrell

Albany-Kathleen Lynch Farrell died suddenly on Monday, March 28, 20016 as the result of a fall in her home. She is the cherished daughter of Marty and Kathy Farrell; the beloved sister of Joshua and Ginnie, Michael and Andrea, and Jeremy and Nicole Farrell; and the treasured aunt of Owen, Andrew, Ellie, Mary, Marty, Hopie, Penny, Charlie and Peter. She is the much loved niece of Jim and Terri Farrell, Dawn Binsse, Helen Farrell, Sister Patricia “Penny” Lynch, John and Karol Lynch, Donald and Barbara Lynch, Michael and Peggy Lynch and Peter and Blaine Lynch, and leaves behind many, many heartbroken cousins and friends. Katie has been, and always will be the light of our family. To be with Katie was to be at home, always welcomed with a warm smile and embrace. She graduated from Union College with a degree in civil engineering, and went on to a distinguished career as a professional engineer working in Boston, Dublin, Albany, and the Hudson River dredging project. She was a true Renaissance person – accomplished in woodworking, tiling, plumbing, electric work, painting, gardening and cooking. Katie was funny, energetic, compassionate, diligent, intelligent, generous and always willing to help. Katie was always herself, a true, beautiful person. She loved traveling, music, her camp in Lake George, her family and friends. We don’t know what we will do without her and will treasure her forever. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Katie’s family Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Funeral services Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 9:45 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 10:30 am where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands immediately following the Mass.
