VOORHEESVILLE –Joseph J. Guastella, 70 of Voorheesville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and was the son of Julio and Mary Guastella. Joe earned his Masters Degree of Pubic Administration here at the State University at Albany. Joe worked in the not for profit sector for 42 years beginning his career at the American Lung Association then at the Arthritis Foundation, International Service Agencies and retiring from the United Way of Northeastern New York as Vice President of Federated Campaigns. His role in the SEFA and CFC campaigns gave Joe the opportunity to work with other charities building relationships through the years with countless state and federal employees. He would be noticeable at the yearly SEFA campaign in the halls of the Corning Tower. Joe was the beloved husband of forty seven years to Josette Guastella whom he met at Baruch College in NYC. He was the beloved father of Julia (Jason) Kenney and Joseph Guastella. He was the very proud and loving Grampie and Pop Pop to Carmella Kenney, Charlie Guastella and Vincenzo Guastella. Joe was the brother of Frank (AnneMarie) Guastella. Joe first and foremost loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He would never miss an opportunity to play with them whether it be painting, coloring, pushing a wagon and just cuddling with them. His love of cooking made him the focal point at all family gatherings and was always requested. All his friends and family know that he loved music, he would dance with his grandkids and listen to pop music though smooth jazz was his favorite. He enjoyed the game of golf with his league buddies the “Slicers” who would always find laughs and fun on the course. His love of people was obvious as he always was there if someone needed him. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe’s family Tuesday, May 18, 2021 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Joe’s Funeral Service will then follow at 1:00 pm. Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doorway; masks and social distancing are required; and 45 visitors at a time will be allowed in the funeral home. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Funeral Service.
