Jason was a lifelong Albany resident who worked for the City of Albany for over 20 years in various capacities, perhaps most notably as an Albany Police Officer for the last 13 years. Jason led a distinguished career in law enforcement, receiving numerous awards for his service while touching countless lives along the way, and rising to rank of Detective in the Criminal Investigation Unit. Jason loved spending time with his family and friends. He knew how to bring out the best in people with his positivity and sense of humor. He was a gentle soul who always looked on the bright side and was loved by all. His family lovingly called him “Positive Pa”. Jason was a dedicated family man who enjoyed camping, kayaking and fishing with his children. Nothing brought him more joy than to see his children happy and watch their accomplishments. He will forever be remembered for the kindness and acceptance that he showed to others. He had a special love for animals, especially his dogs Sammy and Emily who were constantly by his side. The family would like to give special thanks to Jason’s colleagues at the Albany Police Department for their outpouring love and support, especially Chris Cornell, Josiah Jones, Anthony Scalise, and Chief Robert Sears, the staff at NYOH and the Radiology Department at Samaritan Hospital, Jason’s neighborhood crew, the Burnell’s, all of our close friends that have shown so much kindness and support to our family and have made us a part of theirs and the greater community that has come together to honor a true hero.
