    Gertrude K. Dennis

    December 3, 1921 - August 31, 2021

    Loudonville-Gertrude K. Dennis, 99, entered Eternal Life Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Hilda S. Tallman Miller. Gertrude graduated from Rosselville High School with perfect attendance and lettered in soccer, basketball and cheerleading. She also graduated from Albany Business School. She worked in Woolworths and A & P Supermarket during and after her school days. Along with her husband Hank she owned and operated H. Dennis Refuse Company. Gertrude, Hank and their sons went on to establish H. Dennis & Sons Development & Kimberly Square. She was a former Civil Defense Corps volunteer during WW II. Gertrude was a former member of the Shaker Road Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Colonie Democratic Party. She was also active in the PTA of her children’s schools, and their Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion Baseball leagues. Gertrude enjoyed reading, writing and supporting the University of Notre Dame. She was the wife of the late Henry E. Dennis, Sr who passed away in 1981; beloved mother of Henry E. Dennis Jr (Shirley), Timothy D. Dennis (Marcia) and Christopher K. Dennis (Ellie); cherished grandmother of Kimberly, Kelly and Krysta; great grandmother of Kennedy; sister of Alfred Miller (late Ruth) and the late Sonny Miller, Isabelle VanDenburgh, Audrey Myers, Hilda Urbano and Agnes Thayer; many nieces and nephews survive. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Kelly Adams, her daughter Taneesha, and her granddaughter Selena for all the care and support they provided to Gertrude. Funeral services Friday, September 3, 2021 at 12:00 pm at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Please only enter the church from the front doorway; church ambassadors will be available to help with seating and questions; if vaccinated, please seat yourselves in main section of the Church (masks optional and no social distancing); if unvaccinated or are uncomfortable not social distancing, the two sides of Church are available where social distancing and masks will be required; and please attempt to arrive 15 minutes before. The Mass can be viewed at https://www.stpiusxloudonville.org/new-live-videos/ The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Mass.
