October 26, 1961 - November 4, 2021
Cohoes-Frank Nicholas Lorica, 60, passed away peacefully on November 4th, 2021, with his loving family by his side after a courageous and lengthy battle with prostate cancer. Frank was born in Albany on October 26, 1961 to the late Cosimo and Theresa (DeGeorge) Lorica. He attended the Vincentian Institute and graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1979. Frank graduated from Marist College in 1983 where he studied pre-law. He returned to Albany after college, where he was known for his hard work and life-long commitment to running the family business, G&C Plumbing and Heating. Frank will always be remembered for his smile, easy-going manner and sense of humor. To have Frank’s friendship was to possess a great gift. He would go to any length to help a friend or family member. Frank was happiest spending time with his family and countless circles of friends. He was a dedicated father and extremely proud of his three children. His children are forever grateful for his ability to change plans at the drop of a hat to be there or do anything for them. He was the best Nonno to his beloved granddaughters, Emilia and Myla. Frank was a fiercely loyal son and brother. He was well-known in the Capital District construction community and built many significant and special relationships there. Ever the sports enthusiast, he avidly followed the NY Mets, the NY Jets and the Italian soccer leagues, especially A.C. Milan. For most of his life, he was heavily involved in the local soccer scene, playing soccer himself well into his 50’s and never missing his kid’s soccer games. His soccer friends were some of his dearest throughout his life. He also played golf and loved golf outings with his son, Phil, and other buddies. One of the hardest parts of Frank’s illness was the loss of his physical activity and fitness. In our minds, we will forever remember him running up and down the soccer fields. Always proud of his Italian roots, Frank enjoyed lifelong relationships with his Cugini in Monopoli, Italy. He and his fiancée, Celeste, adored each other and were passionate about Italian culture, food, music, language and travel. Frank leaves behind his daughter Dr. Camille (Benjamin) Dumas; son Phillip Lorica, daughter Elle (Robert) O’Connor; granddaughters Emilia Dumas and Myla O’Connor; fiancée Celeste Costa, mother Theresa Lorica; brothers Joseph (Nancy) Lorica and Cosimo Jr. (Jeannie) Lorica; sister Livia Lorica, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Frank fought bravely until the end and was taken from us decades too early. We are thankful that he can now rest. His family is sincerely grateful to Dr. Shaffer and the staff of NYOH as well as the amazing people at Albany Medical Center who made Frank’s last days peaceful. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Frank’s family Monday, November 8, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany, NY 12206.
