Edward Joseph Lasch, Jr.

Westborough-Edward Joseph Lasch Jr. of Westborough, MA formerly of Loudonville, NY died peacefully on June 24, 2016. Ed was born May 15, 1929 in Albany, NY to Edward and Mary (O'Brien) Lasch. Ed graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1947 and received a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University. He later received a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering and a Masters of Science in Management from RPI. Ed worked as a Chemical Engineer at GE for 35 plus years, retiring in 1992. He was a wonderful husband, caring father and fun grandfather. He had a great sense of humor and a kind heart, a great guy who was liked by all. He adored his grandchildren and they loved their Pa. Upon retirement Ed and his wife Catherine enjoyed time at their Cape Cod home and eventually joined their family in Westborough, MA. He was entirely devoted to his family and ice cream! His homes in Loudonville and the Cape were happy, busy places where there was always room for one more. He especially loved his time on the Cape with his children, grandchildren and friends going to the beach, playing bingo and getting ice cream, penny candy and fudge. Ed is survived by his wife of sixty-one years Catherine (Whalen) and his children; Lisa of Brookline, MA; Kathryn of Brookline, MA; Leah and Michael (Hally) of Westborough, MA; Edward and Kathleen (Clements) of Wellesley, MA; and Michael and Jennifer (Reiser) of Westborough, MA. Ed is the beloved grandfather of Matthew and Kathryn Hally, Teddy, Polly and Georgia Lasch and Samantha and Derek Lasch. His granddaughter Lauren Hally predeceased him. Ed is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Frank and Mary Ellen Lasch and predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Joseph LoGiudice. He will be missed by his large and loving extended family, including many nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends. Special thank you to the staff at Hearthstone at New Horizons, who still saw the loving funny person we all knew despite his illness and gave Ed a caring and safe environment over his last months with us. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with Ed’s family on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. The Rite of Interment will immediately follow the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
