Dorothy B. Sleasman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Menands, NY – Dorothy B. Sleasman, 96, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. Born in Troy, NY she was the daughter of the late Dudley and Minnie Pitts Bartlett. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry F. Sleasman in 2012. She was also predeceased by her brothers Donald and Francis Bartlett and her sister Helen (Edward) Cavanagh. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Gregory) Laurin (Hoosick Falls), and her son Robert Sleasman and his husband Richard Ostreicher (Hawaii) and her grandchildren Jacqueline, David and Jonathan Laurin, and two great grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews Maureen Cavanagh, Linda Cavanagh, Edward (Donna) Cavanagh, Carol (Joseph) O’Connor, and Janet and Gary Bartlett, as well as her great nieces and nephews Daniel (Natalia) O’Connor, Erin (Michael) Hogan, Laura (Sean) Spath and Coleen (Joseph) Kozlowski. She was also the adoring great, great aunt to Owen and Ben Kozlowski and Lucy Hogan. Dorothy lived most of her life in the Village of Menands and participated in many village events. After graduating from the Academy of the Holy Names high school, she earned an Associate’s Degree and worked as a secretary at the Albany Felt Co. and then at Blue Cross and Blue Shield from which she retired. She was active in the parish life of her churches first at Sacred Heart Church in Albany, and more recently at St. Pius X Church in Loudonville where she sang in the choir. She also sang in the Festival Celebration Choir for many years. Dorothy was a sweet, kind-hearted soul who loved to research her genealogy, travel, sing, play cards, crochet and play the piano. She was very quick witted and could always be relied on for a clever quip or rejoinder. She never refused a glass of Baileys Irish Cream and was always the life of the party. She was devoted to her family and will truly be missed. The family would like to thank all the dedicated staff at the Beverwyck, the Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center and the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes for their outstanding care. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dorothy’s family on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doors only. Dorothy’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
