    Dominic Curro

    April 6, 1932 - May 3, 2022

Voorheesville – Dominic (Dom) Anthony Curro, age 90, entered Eternal Life peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at his home. Dominic was born in Albany to Olga and Paul Curro on April 6, 1932. He married Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Morreale on April 13, 1958 and spent the next 60 years together with her. Dominic attended St. Anthony’s Elementary School in Albany, followed by high school at Cathedral Academy in Albany where he excelled both academically and athletically. He was a member of Cathedral’s football, basketball and baseball teams, and received a baseball scholarship to Holy Cross College. Dominic served for three years as a U.S. Army Corporal in the Korean War from 1952 – 1954, and was honorably discharged thereafter. He gained employment with the New York Bell Telephone Company and retired after 30 years of service. He was also a member of the Colonie Elks B.P.O.E. for many years and attended many functions of the organization. Dominic was a dedicated husband and father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was devoted to his wife Mary Lou, and was her primary caregiver during her illness and final days. He enjoyed spending time with family, whether on the beaches of Wildwood, NJ for the annual summer vacation or playing a game of bocce in the back yard. He also enjoyed day trading stocks, playing the flute and guitar, hunting, fishing, woodworking and selling his goods at local craft fairs. And Dominic always enjoyed a good cigar. Dominic lived a humble life with a devotion to his Catholic faith, and in particular, the Blessed Mother. He was an active member of the St. Matthews congregation and enjoyed a special friendship with Father John Malecki and Father Christopher DeGiovine over the years. He enjoyed watching The Living Divine Mercy series on EWTN television as his days came to a close. Dominic is survived by his children, Therese (Robert) Gregg, Paula (Joe) Casey, Stephen (Abby) Curro and Martin (Susan) Curro. He has 11 adoring grandchildren, Matthew (Catalina) Gregg, Alexander Gregg and Stephen Gregg; Michael (Victoria) Taggart, Theresa (Andrew) Bub, and Kathryn Taggart; Andrew Curro, Isabel Curro, Rebecca Curro and Benjamin Curro; Grace Curro; and two great grandchildren, Lucas Gregg and Samuel Gregg. The Curro family wishes to thank Choice Connections of New York, Touching Hearts at Home and the Community Hospice of Albany for their compassionate care of our father and family.
