David P. Baillargeon

Albany- David Paul Baillargeon (64) came to the end of his personal "magical mystery tour" on Monday, July 25th at the Albany County Nursing home where he had been resident for the last decade. David's life was shaped and framed by numerous forces: his devoted parents, the late Marie and Francis Baillargeon who for years served as his life line; his parochial school education in Cohoes, the social and spiritual upheavals of the 60's; his devotion to friendship, nature,romance and antic; his deep love of music, especially The Beatles and finally,at the age of 27, by a devastating brain tumor which dramatically transformed all. Defying the odds, David built a life for himself, graduating from HVCC and Empire State College with degrees in Human Services which underpin his years as a devoted nursing home volunteer for which he won numerous awards. David became a poet, a philosopher. He continued to embrace music and build friendships. He drew strength from "A Course in Miracles". He traveled, often to spend time with his best bud, his brother Frank. David survived and traversed his "long and winding road" with great courage and dignity, relishing small pleasures and walking forward defiantly, fedora on head, cane in hand until the long term effects of his illness made that no longer possible. Since that time, David has been the recipient of endless loving care at ACNH. His family finds itself incapable of adequately thanking the many staff members, past and present, of B Unit who have nurtured and sheltered Dave. The kindness, devotion, tenderness, humor and detailed personal attention which marked his care have been continuous, moving and inspiring. Besides these many loving caregivers, David is survived by his siblings: Thomas Baillargeon(Pam), Denise Borden (Richard), Frank Baillargeon( Pat) and Maureen Aumand (Ray) as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. David will be laid to rest by his family at St. Agnes Cemetery in Cohoes in a graveside celebration of his life on Saturday, July 30th at 9:30 am.
