Chester Franklin Neice, 84 passed away peacefully with his devoted wife Linda by his side, at Albany Stratton VA hospital on Sunday, November 12th, 2017 Chester, a resident of Prattsville, N.Y. and long-time resident of Englewood FL, was born in Jewett, N.Y. He was United States Navy veteran, serving our country on the USS Willinson DL5 during the Korean War. Chester was a union surveyor who worked to survey the entire Interstate 88 from Guilderland to Binghamton and the Gilboa Blenheim hydro-electric power project. He also worked as an inspector during construction on Rt 23A. He loved hunting, fishing and spent the last ten years back in the mountains he cherished so much. Chet, Daddy, Papa was an incredible Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather who had a passion for all living things and insurmountable strength, he was loved dearly by all. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Mudge Neice; and their children, daughter, Robin married to Troy Stine of Howes Cave N.Y. son, Chet Neice married to Dena, of Punta Gorda FL and daughter Dawn, married to John Ginter of King George VA. 15 grandchildren also survive him; Amanda, Jesse, Lindsey, Alyssa, Caitlin, Paige, Chet, Curtiss, Kaylee, Tyler, Sean, Sydney, Grace, Ashley and Ian and six great-grandchildren; Amelia, Emmett, Erin, Ethan, Riley, Paxton and one more on the way. Chester leaves behind beloved siblings: Sister, Rose Marie Becker Post of Catskill, N.Y. and Sister, Roberta Banks of Jewett, N.Y. and numerous nieces, nephews cousins, and some very special in-laws, Roxie and Jim King, Gretta Knowles & Maurice Mudge. He was preceded in death by his father Chester A. Neice, mother Alice Vroman Neice, sister Gloria Morse, son Chad A. Neice and granddaughter Emily Ginter. A service to his life to be held at Lexington-Westkill United Methodist Church, 54 Rte 13, Lexington NY on Saturday, November 18, at 7 p.m. In place of flowers, please consider a donation in honor of Chester Franklin Neice to Fisher House at Stratton VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208. The Fisher house was established to aid the families of veterans in time of need. Fisher house provided a home away from home over the past two years so the family could provide the care needed.
