Charles J. Fitzsimmons

August 13, 1945 - April 3, 2022

Loudonville – It is with great sorrow that we announce and mourn the passing of Charles (Chuck) J. Fitzsimmons on Sunday, April 3,2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany on August 13,1945 to the late Charles and Emily Long Fitzsimmons. Chuck attended St. Joseph’s High School and graduated in 1963. He then went on to attend Siena College graduating in 1967 with a degree in sociology. Chuck was a decorated United States Navy Veteran serving his country as a Linguist stationed in Spain during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge from the Navy Chuck enjoyed many successes in his career both self- employed and working for various real-estate firms over the years. Chuck was an Avid outdoorsman who enjoyed creating nature inspired art, hunting and fishing. Chuck also enjoyed adventure traveling, spending time lakeside at Lake St. Catherine, VT, and beachside in St. Augustine, FL. Chuck was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert. He is survived by his loving wife Mary; two sons James (Wendy) and Scott (Heidi); his grandchildren Rachel, Claire, Freddy and Willa. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Charles’s family on Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Funeral services Monday, April 11, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Mass can be viewed at https://www.stpiusxloudonville.org/new-live-videos/ The Rite of Interment with Military Honors will follow the Mass at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871 at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Chuck’s memory to a charity of your choice.
