Albany-Celia A. Ziemba Sysol, 97, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. Born in Dunkirk, NY on May 20, 1924. Daughter of the late John and Belle Bialasziewski Ziemba. Celia was a devout Roman Catholic. She was the most amazing cook. Celia made the holidays special with pierogies and many specialty dishes. She was incredible with crocheting, baking and ceramics. Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was the wife of the late Casimer Sysol; mother of Sandra Sidoti (late Frank) and the late Richard Sysol (late Bonnie); grandmother of Lisa DeForge (Kevin) and Holly Ann Sommerville; beloved great grandmother of Ryan, Emily, Katie; sister of Joan Winkler and the late Dorothy, Emily, Evelyn, Eddie, Andy; also survived by several other grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Daughters of Sarah for the care and support provided to Celia. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Celia’s family Friday, September 2, 2021 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doorway; unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Funeral services Saturday at 9:00 am at St. Clare Church, Colonie, NY where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Masks are required.
