North Albany-Carol M. Van Amburgh, 78 entered into Eternal Life Saturday, January 8, 2022. Carol was born and raised in North Albany. She worked for the City of Albany as a secretary for several decades before retiring to care for her beloved father the former Albany Police Deputy Chief William J. Van Amburgh Jr, as her dear mother, Mabel Petrone Van Amburgh had already passed away. Carol was a friend, benefactor, and avid visitor to the Sisters of the Presentation at St. Coleman’s Convent in Watervliet, NY. When Carol was not working you could find her at OTB “betting her ponies.” She was a friend to all and loved by many. Carol was like a sister to the Hon. Gerald D. Jennings (MaryAnn) and the late Joseph “Joey” Jennings; beloved cousin of Bob Van Amburgh (Barbara), Karen Kelefant (Charles), Mary Hering, Dennis Van Amburgh (Evelyn), Cindy Van Amburgh, Bill VanAmburgh (Pam), Chrissy Van Amburgh Mirando (Rich), and the late Roger Van Amburgh, and many more. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Gail and Don Riley for all the years they were good friends and neighbors to Carol. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Carol’s family Tuesday, January 18, 2022 9:30 am to 10:30 am the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Albany, NY. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am. Masks are required by everyone. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Funeral Mass. Carol will be buried next to her cherished mother and father.
