Bernard Williams Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Albany-Bernard George Williams, 77, of Albany, NY passed peacefully on October 14 after a long illness. A lifelong resident of the Capital District, he grew up in Delmar, attending Bethlehem Central High School and SUNY Morrisville, before settling in Albany. A veteran of the US Army, he enjoyed a long career as the landscape specialist for the NYS Thruway Authority. He was a long-time volunteer with the Royal Mountain Ski Patrol, and a member of the Mater Christi parish. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed skiing, hiking, canoeing, and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. In retirement, he siezed the opportunity to travel extensivley with his wife Mary Lynn. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Mary Lynn Williams (nee Black), his brother, Vincent (Dorothy) Williams of Delmar; two children, Barron (Kathryn) Williams of Chevy Chase, MD, and Molly (Ryan) Hodgins of Napa, CA; and seven grandchildren: Jake, Evan, Natalie and Claire Williams and Maggie, Gus, and Teddy Hodgins. He was brother-in law to Susan Black of Worcester, Carol Black of Port Charlotte, FL., and the late Charles Black; uncle of Emily Black, Elizabeth Black, and Stephen Black. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (www.pdf.org) or St. Peter's Hospice. The family is especially grateful to the compassionate medical professionals of the cardiac ward. Funeral services Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10:30 am in McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany at 11:00 am where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands immediately following the Mass.
