Barbara Ann Tunny Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Albany-Barbara Ann Tunny, 79, entered Eternal Life Friday, August 5, 2022 at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Isabel H. Stilwell Palmer. Barbara Ann graduated from Albany High School and Bryant & Stratton Business School. She began a long career at NY Telephone Company starting as a switchboard operator, and working her way up to Drafter. She later spent 20 years working at Albany Medical Center South Campus (formerly Childs Hospital and Nursing Home). Barbara Ann was a union representative with AFL-CIO, and also a founding member of Capital Communications Federal Credit Union. She was a girl scout leader, and had been active in fund raising for Vincentian Institute Grade School. Barbara Ann enjoyed crafts, ceramics, baking, cooking, reading, Irish music and festivals, traveling, and casinos. She will also be remembered as a notoriously devoted fan of Trisha Yearwood. She was the wife for 51 years of Gerald W. Tunny: dear mother of Karen L. Lambert (Jason) and Michael P. Tunny (Praise); cherished grandmother of Claire, Stella, and Jack; sister of John D. Palmer and the late William J. Palmer; survived by several nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.
