Antonino Fazio Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Albany-It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Antonino "Tony" Fazio on Sunday, May 1st, 2022, 82, with his family by his side in the comfort of his home. Tony was born to Tindaro and Maria Foti Fazio in the Oliveri Province of Messina, Sicily, Italy in the year of 1939. Tony, a mason by trade, received a merit award in 1960 for being an outstanding apprentice of masonry. This earned him the opportunity to go on to compete in Washington DC at the 12th Annual National Bricklayer Apprentice Contest, in which he placed 10th out of the nation's 38 best. As a result of his achievements, he had the honor of meeting President Eisenhower. Shortly after, he ended up becoming a master mason who went on to own his own construction company, Fazio Masonry Corp, with his two sons, Anthony Tindaro Fazio and Marcello Joseph Fazio. As a family, they completed many outstanding projects. A few notable projects consisted of The Skidmore College, Tang Art Museum, Saratoga National Racing Museum, The Fort Orange Club, and the Albany International Airport parking garage, where the Eastern New York Chapter American Concrete Institute Annual Award was given in recognition of excellence in conception, originality, and applicability of concrete in both design and construction. Although Tony retired in 2006, he still remained around the trade by becoming a watchful eye over his two sons, providing continued knowledge and a helping hand when needed. Tony enjoyed soccer, hunting, fishing, traveling, and making homemade wine annually with his family. Tony leaves his wife Mary Martha Sidoti and their sons Anthony T. Fazio (Ornella) Marcello J. Fazio (Danielle), his grandchildren Antonino, Marcello, Mariah, Luciano, and Ilana Fazio, his brother Salvatore (Mafalda) Fazio and the late Catherine Micari, brother-in-law Joseph Micari, nephews Tindaro Fazio and Anthony John Sidoti, niece Maria (Chris) Volpe and their children, he is also survived by many other loving Sidoti family members, and his best friend Sante (Carmela) Dicarlo, and most of all his beloved canine Alexia Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tony’s family Friday, May 6, 2022 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208n North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Funeral services Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 9:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church, Albany, NY where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated.
