    Ann C. Michels

    February 27, 1928 - November 30, 2018

Loudonville-Ann C. Michels, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Born on February 27, 1928 in Rensselaer, Ann was the daughter of the late John Caraher and Caroline Grasser. She grew up in the Capital District and at the age of 24 moved to New York City where she worked as a supervisor at Saks Fifth Avenue until her retirement. Beginning in 2000, after her return to the Albany area to be closer to family, Ann devoted her time to several volunteer activities associated with the Colonie Senior Service Centers. Ann was also an avid reader and enjoyed taking day trips with the Seniors, eating out and game nights with friends. Ann was predeceased by four sisters: Virginia Kallenbach, Evelyn Vardine, Madeline Painter and Alice Ryan. She was the loving aunt of Joan Thorn, Carolyn Cooper, Lynn (Sha) Anderson, Denise Buckley and John (Jack) Ryan. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, friends and her feline companion Chloe. Ann’s strong and resilient spirit are an inspiration to all who knew her. She faced all obstacles with grace, humor and optimism. Ann will always be remembered for her gentle, caring nature and her appreciation for all life had to offer. Special thanks to the staff of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center, especially those who work in the Red Unit, for providing Ann with kind, loving and respectful care throughout the past four years. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ann’s family Wednesday, December 5, 2018 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Chapel at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, following the visitation. The Rite of Committal will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna immediately following the Funeral Mass.
