William S. Hearley Jr.

Guilderland-William S. Hearley, Jr. passed into Eternal Life peacefully Monday, December 29, 2014 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late William S. and Miriam Sill Hearley. Mr. Hearley attended Vincentian Institute. He graduated from Cranwell Prep, Lenox, MA in 1953 and the College of the Holy Cross in 1957. He earned his degree in Mortuary Science from the American Academy of Mortuary Science in 1958. Mr. Hearley became the third generation funeral director in the Hearley family, and for over 40 years operated the Hearley & Son Funeral Home in both the City of Albany and Town of Guilderland. He was a former member of Wolfert’s Roost Country Club, the Guilderland Elks Lodge 2480 and a proud member of the USGA. Mr. Hearley was an avid bowler and golfer who shot a Hole-In-One at Albany Country Club. He was also a lifelong fan of Notre Dame, the Cincinnati Reds, and the New York Jets. Bill attended sixteen Super Bowls with his many friends, and always cherished those great memories. He was the former husband of Carol Mitchell Hearley and Sharon Harrison Hearley; father of William S. Hearley III (Lisa) of Albany, Timothy Hearley (Sherry) of Nicholasville, KY, Christopher Hearley (Linda) of Queensbury, Michael Hearley of Albany, Cynthia Lamme (Jaap) of Marietta, GA, Patricia Leon (Larry) of Pittsford, NY, and Kevin and Ryan Hearley, both of Colonie; brother of Edgar Sandman of Needham, MA; grandfather of Erin, Justin, CJ, Brandon, Alex, and Derek Hearley, Max and Olivia Lamme, Isabella, Madeline, Abbey, and MaryKate Leon, William and Brooke Redington of Nicholasville, KY; also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends, especially M. Frank Roche, Kevin McGeary, Paul Devane, Hon. Robert Meyer, Laura Scheuner, and George and Sheila Keator. Funeral services Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 8:15 am from McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany at 9:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, January 2, 2015 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
