Victor M. Ciancetta, Sr

Albany-Victor M. Ciancetta Sr., 83, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 7 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Attillio and Laura Ciancetta, and the brother of the late Albert and Aldino Ciancetta (late Jean). Vic was a veteran, serving in the Army during the Korean war. Victor worked as an electrical designer for Niagara Mohawk/National Grid for over forty years where he met the love of his life, his wife Jeanne Rooney Ciancetta. Jeanne and Victor were married for fifty-nine years and were inseparable throughout their marriage. Victor was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, and served until recently on the Board of Directors of the Community Resource Federal Credit Union. He was loved and revered by coworkers, friends, and family alike. Victor was devoted to his family above anything else, and was an incredible husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He loved gardening and cooking, especially with his children and grandchildren by his side. Victor is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne Ciancetta; his loving children Deborah Grenga (Tad) of Suffolk, VA, Kathleen Dal Col (Richard) of Loudonville, NY, and Victor M. Ciancetta Jr. (Roseanne) of Monroe, CT; his brother Mario Ciancetta (Muriel) of Alplaus, NY; his sister Mary DellaRocco (Skip) of Valatie, NY; his sister-in-law Marion Ciancetta of Schenectady; and his ten adoring grandchildren, Devan, Alexis, and Brendan Dal Col; Christopher, Jennifer, Tad Michael, and Mark Grenga; and Victor, Natalie, and Andrew Ciancetta; as well as many caring nieces and nephews. Victor was eternally grateful for the care, guidance, and support provided by his doctors: Dr. Bruce Coplin, Dr. Larry Garbo, Dr. Nini Wu, Dr. Greg Bishop, and Dr. Dennis Rassias. Funeral services Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 8:15 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany thence to the Historic Church of St. Mary on Capitol Hill at 9:00 am where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Interment will immediately follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
