Veronica (Joyce) Kavanaugh

Albany, NY- Veronica (Joyce) Kavanaugh passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Her life was a shining example of unconditional love, unwavering faith, and complete devotion to her family. She was truly the heart of the Kavanaugh family, a source of love, strength, and endless prayers. Her prayers had a way of lifting hearts and bringing peace, and we truly believed that they always worked. Veronica is survived by her beloved children: Kathy (Gerald) Darrigo, Maureen (Michael) Hartmann, Brian (Laura) Kavanaugh, Eileen Fitzpatrick, Colleen (Ken) Cioffi, James (Erin) Kavanaugh, Laureen Lee, and Joyce (Kevin) Gaige; her dear sister Michaela Joyce; and her sister-in-law Kathleen Joyce. She was also blessed with 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and was awaiting the arrival of three more great-grandchildren, each of whom brought endless joy to her life. She is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Ernest Kavanaugh, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership; her parents, Edna and Raymond Joyce; and her siblings, Raymond (Joan), Mary, Jack, Frances, Phil (Mary), William, Robert (Pat), Harold (Peg), Edna (Don) Kelly, and Florence (Phil) Ladouceur. Born and raised in Albany, Veronica’s life was a testament to faith, family, and service. She and Ernie moved to Colonie, where they raised their eight children in a home filled with love, laughter, and wisdom. A dedicated and hardworking woman, she worked for 12 years as a secretary for the Carpenter’s Union and devoted many years to serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Her creativity shone in her needlecraft, and her love of reading reflected her ever-curious mind and heart. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Community Hospice team for their exceptional love and support throughout this journey. A special thank you goes to Jamie, Marita, Sonyea, Cory, Darren, Rachel, Theresa, and Justin for their compassionate care and unwavering dedication. Veronica’s life was centered around her faith and her family. She taught us the true meaning of love, faith, and generosity, and her spirit will continue to inspire everyone blessed to have known her. Though she is no longer with us, her love continues to surround us, and we know we will always be able to turn to her for guidance and feel the strength of her prayers in our hearts. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Funeral Services Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 10:30 am Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Avenue (Rev. John Bradley Way) Albany, NY 12206 where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Blessed Sacrament in Veronica’s memory.
