Troy Anderson Bielert

Albany, NY – Troy A. Bielert, 44, passed away on March 21, 2026, at the Community Hospice Inn after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The son of Craig Bielert and Constance (“Connie”) Anderson, Troy was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Troy moved with his family to Oneonta, NY at the age of five. A graduate of Oneonta High School, he went on to earn a B.A. in Anthropology from Hartwick College, an M.A in Anthropology from the University at Albany, and an M.A. in Special Education from the College of St. Rose. Troy married Alisa Nurminen in 2020, and together they made their home in Colonie. Troy touched countless lives – as a teacher at Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, through his work at Catholic Charities Disabilities Services, and as a soccer coach and friend. He had an extraordinary gift for making others feel valued and created lasting connections with all who knew him. A dedicated and accomplished athlete, Troy excelled in soccer, snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking, running, and jiu-jitsu. He was a member of the Oneonta High School boys soccer team that won the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Class B Championship (Section IV) in 1999. Troy also had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing guitar and ukulele until cancer led to the loss of his left arm. Even in the face of tremendous physical challenges, he remained resilient, optimistic, and determined to embrace life fully. Troy is survived by his spouse, Alisa; his mother, Connie; and sisters, Shiloh, Evie, and Lorien. He was a devoted uncle to Eowyn, Logan, Lakota, Aden, Ethan, and Nola. Troy is now reunited in peace with his beloved father, Craig, who predeceased him. Troy’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported and cared for him throughout his illness.
