Teresa P. Sansonia

Albany- Teresa P. Sansonia, 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Teresian House. Terry was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Michele and Angela Augello Mauceri, who emigrated from Sicily. She was predeceased by her brothers Gaspare and Charles, and sister-in-law Marie. Terry graduated with honors from Bushwick High School, and later attended LaGuardia College where she excelled in English. Terry and her husband of 48 years, the late Nicholas Sansonia, raised their family in Ridgewood, NY. They moved to Colonie upon Terry’s retirement from Meyer Handlemann & Co, where she enjoyed her work as a bookkeeper and loved the vitality of Manhattan. Terry was a fabulous cook, who could make a feast out of what some would call “nothing”. She was always active in community service, and held offices in several organizations, including Rosary Altar, Home and School Association and Silver Streakers of Colonie, where she served as President. Friends and family will remember her for her compassionate listening and wise counsel. Terry will be missed by her loving children, Michael (Rachel List), Cara (Walker Crewson) and Angela (Edward Kowalski). Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren: Christopher Kowalski, Katherine Kowalski, and Mason Sansonia. She also leaves behind many adored cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Although there are too many to list, she loved you all. Our family would like to send our deepest thanks and gratitude to the 6th floor staff at Teresian House. They consistently treated her with respect, kindness and love. We could not have asked for more or better. Funeral services Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 8:45 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Infant of Prague Chapel at the Teresian House at 9:30 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
